The Southern Cavy Club is pleased to offer Half Day Courses to anyone who would like to learn more about their chosen Specialist Breed. These courses will run in conjunction with the Judges’ Accreditation Programme at Swindon. They are available to fanciers who do not wish to be considered for the SCC judging panel, or to learn about every breed of cavy, but would like to gain more knowledge about one or more particular breeds.
Each course will include a lecture/demonstration by a breeder/ exhibitor who has considerable knowledge of and experience with the breed. There will be also be a practical session during which the students will be able to examine and handle a number of examples of the breed being studied. Students will be given the opportunity to sit an exam on their chosen breed(s) or, if preferred, can come along purely to attend the teaching and practical sessions. Those who choose to sit the exam on their Specialist Breed will be presented with a certificate after passing the exam. As places are limited, applications will be accepted on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
Most courses will last for half a day, but Selfs are split into BWCG & AOC, with a whole day being devoted to each section. Longhairs will also take up an entire day. Dates and times for each breed will be advised at the time of booking.
So, if you are interested please get in touch with Penny Bell as soon as possible, stating which breed or breeds you would like to learn about.
The cost of each course will be £15 for one half day course, £12 each for two or more courses. Full day courses are £24. The fees must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to the course taking place.
